About Kate Fulford

After graduating in general art and design from Suffolk College in 1991 I started my own business in Southern Spain as a specialist painter working on interior design projects with both businesses and individuals. I was lucky enough to help transform the interiors of Los Naranjos golf club and restaurant and worked closely with many residential private clients and Interior Designers on different sized projects.

After I had made a name for myself in Spain, I headed back to London where I continued to work on specialist painting projects for myself and as part of a team. This included the restoration of the Wellington museum in Apsley House, in conjunction with English Heritage. I also worked as part of a team of painters who recreated the monkey murals at the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados. Interior designers Paolo Moschino and Joanna Wood used my painting skills on various private client projects in London. Other clients included Terry Gilliam and Brian May. I was co-founder of Chiaroscuro London, a specialist painting business which I ran with Dawn Reader for two years. We worked on many high end properties in London and around the UK. It was after working as an assistant for Interior Designer Lizzie Verschoyle on small and large residential properties in London that I decided to retrain at KLC school of Interior Design in Chelsea Harbour, London where I graduated with a diploma in Interior Design. I feel honoured to have been highly commended for the Design Innovation Award, given by Studio Indigo and I was runner up in a design competition for Porta Romana. I was also shortlisted for the Amara competition and featured on their website.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a passion of mine and is a big part of the holistic design process at Kate Fulford Interiors. Wherever possible I will try and make and recommend sustainable choices throughout the design journey.

It is for this reason that I love giving a new lease of life to antiques in many of my projects, as they are both sustainable and full of upscaling potential.

The Name In Quality

I have spent the last 15 years living in Suffolk and am based in Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. I have built up tried, tested and trusted relationships with talented local artisans, craftsmen and antique dealers whose standards are as high as mine. I have over 20 years’ experience of working in the interior design industry and have been lucky enough to work for some of the best Interior Designers in the world.
